The Global Signal Exchange (GSE) is an initiative launched in October 2024 through a collaboration between Google, the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA), and the DNS Research Federation (DNSRF).
This platform aims to serve as a centralised clearinghouse for data on online scams and fraudulent activities, enhancing the sharing of abuse signals to facilitate faster identification and disruption of such threats across various sectors and services.
Key Aspects of the Global Signal Exchange:
• Collaborative Effort: The GSE leverages GASA’s extensive network of stakeholders, DNSRF’s robust data platform containing over 40 million scam signals, and Google’s expertise in combating online fraud.
• Pilot Program: In its initial phase, Google contributed over 100,000 URLs associated with fraudulent merchants and ingested approximately one million scam signals into the platform. That has since expanded to over 70 million signals as more partners have come onboard (as of 1 March 2025).
• Technological Infrastructure: The platform operates on Google Cloud, allowing participants to share and access signals efficiently. It also uses artificial intelligence capabilities to identify patterns and match signals effectively.
• Accessibility: The GSE is designed to be user-friendly and scalable, making it accessible to qualifying organisations across different industries. GASA and DNSRF manage access to ensure the platform’s integrity and effectiveness.
The GSE represents a significant step toward enhancing global cooperation in the fight against online scams and fraud, aiming to protect users by disrupting malicious activities more swiftly and effectively.
